Not the dining room, not the living room—this is about the room that connects the family on a much deeper level.

One morning in 2021, a family approached us to help repurpose a room in their house. After hearing the brief and discussing it with them, we agreed to collaborate on reshaping the space.

The main focus was to preserve as many memories as possible—from tiles to ceiling, from materials to colors. The furniture was no exception. All the old pieces that held special meaning for the family were kept in the front area, in their original form and color, while most of the new design took place at the rear in shades of green.

To honor the work of their late carpenter—from the wooden marble desk and white wardrobes to the cabinet—everything was preserved as it was, and only refurbished when necessary.

Divided into front and rear areas—separated and connected by a sliding partition door—this is the room where the family spends most of their time. The rear serves as a bedroom / TV room, while the front functions as a workspace / study room / meeting space / gathering spot / reading area, and occasionally, a dining room.

Once their children’s study room, today it’s where the parents work—and where the children gather when they come home.
